Our Church History

Church

1925-2013

1925-2008

In loving memory of Pastor "Dad" W. Doyle and Mother Birdie Staton.

Formally Victory Fellowship Church of God, this church was born out of a firestorm of disappointment, difficulty, and dysfunctional challenges. This Refiner’s fire was an amazing place of grace where a small band of Kingdom prayer warriors, intimate in their love for God, dug their way out of the debris and discovered new spiritual dimension and destiny. This spiritual awakening touched the lives of several families, where healing and deliverance were common experiences ushered in by the moving of the Holy Spirit in our midst.

As the founders, Pastor W .Doyle and wife Birdie, along with their son, Pastor Warren Jr., was encouraged to hold the mission together… and that’s exactly what he did as he preached, and…Oh, did he preach!

It became apparent to all that the glowing ambers left over from the vision and ministry of Pastor Dad and Mother Staton were still in effect. United by the power of agreement, God was faithful to provide the new leadership necessary to build and expand their great work. Praise is to God for our Prayer line partners, who for 21 years have offered fervent prayer daily at the 6 am hour, under the faithful leadership of Mother Ora Dean Young. Given the charge prophetically by Mother Staton on her death bed to the oldest daughter Karen; it was five years before she totally surrendered to receive the mantle of the call and office.

DLC Is A Church of Love

Love is the greatest of the Christian virtues. ( 1 Corinthians 13:13) Love is declared to be the chief test of Christ like discipleship. “A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this (love) all men shall know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.” (John 13:31,35)

Our Church Is Also...

  • ...Consistent and Committed

Commitment: Pledge, promise or duty regarded as solemn responsibility.  Be committed for the cause of Christ.  “not giving up meeting together (as believers), as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.  (Hebrews 10:25) We encourage attendance at Sunday service, mid-week service and availing oneself to prayer and teaching ministries of the church.

  • ...Evangelistic

The mission of the church is to evangelize the world.  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28: 19-20)  As Believers, we are commissioned by Jesus to be responsible for the souls of those who don’t know Him as Savior.

  • ...Rooted In Family

We are mutually dependent on one another with love and respect. ” So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”  (Romans 12:5)  …no divisions… perfectly joined.. same mind… called into the fellowship.

We show love in a spirit of excllence. Excellence: Superior quality; outstanding ability or worth.  “Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him…”(Daniel 6:3)

  • ...Obedient

Jesus was obedient.  (Luke 2: 51)  We must obey those in authority. “Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.”  (Hebrews 13:17)  Servants, obey in all things… fearing God.”

  • ...Full of Character

Your personality is what you show people but your character is who you really are.  We strive to live the life we talk about both at Church and away from church.  “Let your light so shine that men will see your good works…” (Matthew 5:16)

  • ...Forgiving

God wants us to forgive each other as He has forgiven us.  (Matthew 6:12, 14, 15)  “When you stand praying, forgive.”  (Mark11:25)

  • ...Full of Faith

Faith is confidence, assurance and reliance on God, trusting God for who He is.  He is all we need Him to be.  The Great I AM.  Without faith is is impossible to please God.  When we come to Him, we must believe that He is.  (Hebrews 11:16)  One of our favorite motto is: “If God don’t give it to us, we would have it!”

  • ...and On Time!

We strive to start on time and be on time.  God expects His church to be orderly, disciplined, organized, strategic in planning, timely and seasonal.  “Let everything be done decently and in order.”  (1 Corinthians 14:40)
